The Water Presence Sensor ensures precise flood irrigation by measuring water levels in the field to prevent overwatering. Lightweight and portable with replaceable batteries, it features cloud connectivity, app control, and seamless integration with valves to optimize water use and promote healthier crops.

Surge Irrigation

What is Surge Irrigation?

Surge Irrigation is a highly effective method to flood irrigate achieving up to 50% water conservation while ensuring crops get sufficient water where and when they need it. The goal is to keep water in the root zone of the plant, not beyond. Historical flood irrigation is inefficient due to soil over-saturation and excessive runoff losses. SAE’s automated surge valves solve these problems

Surge Process

In-Field Surge Process

1. Water Set 1-A

2. Water Set 1-B

3. Water Set 2-A

4. Water Set 2-B

5. Continue repeating until each dike is completed

Water Presence Sensor Controls

Features

SAE Water uses wireless communications between a regional “gateway” and each device. The gateway is connected to the cloud to enable communications to any internet connected device. Users control the valves and Water Presence Sensors from a phone app or from a web app on a computer. Users can manually open and close the valves from the app or upload an irrigation schedule to the app for easy hands-free irrigation. Water Presence Sensors will work with the Valve to schedule the amount of time your surge irrigation should run including during droughts and rainy days. Saving you time and money!

Comprehensive Ecosystem

Comprehensive Ecosystem: Hegates Valves & Sensors

If the Automated Valves are used with one of SAE Water's Automated Headgates (Automated Metered Turnout Gate), more water savings can be gained, and the irrigation process can be optimized. This headgate actively adjusts to provide a specified target flow rate regardless of canal level. This optimizes the irrigation process by delivering constant flowrate and allows the user to calculate exactly how many inches of water is being applied to the crops. This is something that has been impossible before.
